The International State Crime Initiative (ISCI) wanted to engage undergraduate students in a way that was more modern and immersive than a journal article, but remained academically rigorous.

What we did

We transformed six 10,000-word case studies into an engrossing side-scrolling website that uses movement, striking visuals and video to bring the text to life. It has been used as a teaching tool at King’s College London, the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, The University of York and Ulster University.

The site made academic content much more engaging

Outcome

It was nominated for the Times Higher Education Awards 2014 in the Outstanding ICT Initiative of the Year category, after being extremely well-received by academics and students alike.

The side-scrolling site used a mixture of narrative text written specially for the product, and primary sources which were embedded in the stories
