A practical workshop that helps us see conflict in a new way – from a team problem to acknowledging different ways of thinking – giving us more tools to work with conflict more productively.

Overview

What would it look like to be able to develop and practice skills to help explore conflict and difficult situations in a safe and consistent way?

When we recognise that we are not communicating well it can show up in a variety of ways – feeling anxious, frustrated or upset, avoiding a colleague or a particular conversation, or just generally not enjoying work. This can lead to an inability to make decisions together, which is problematic for any organisation.

But developing the communication tools to be able to deal with conflicts as they arise are essential skills that we can all learn and practice. Studies have shown that communicating clearly and honestly with each other leads to a happier, more fulfilling workplace.

And at Building OUT, we have long recognised the value of good communication, and have been on a journey together to raise our awareness of our own unconscious patterns of behaviour and change them for the better.

These workshops gave us the opportunity to practice voicing personal and work-related experiences and thoughts, ones we perhaps were likely to overlook and bury. We found that when our team was in a space where everyone was free to mess up, get lost, or re-phrase, many pivotal conversations came out of this, both for us as individuals, but also us as a team

This includes, but is not limited to people who:

The facilitators

This workshop is based on your facilitators’ real-life experience of implementing the approach over many years in a business setting. The session will give you a practical, hands-on taster, and enough knowledge to start using these techniques in your own organisation (and your personal life!).

Pete Burden and Abi Handley are delivering this workshop, based on their real-life experience of using and implementing communication techniques.

Pete is a team and leadership coach who works with purpose-oriented businesses and organisations. He has been pivotal in supporting people at Outlandish to communicate better (alongside introducing Sociocracy).

Abi is a key organiser within Outlandish. She works across programme management, finance, and business development and focusses much of her time in developing communication skills across the Outlandish team and with clients.

Timing & Format

The workshop is split into two half days on consecutive weeks, running from 10.00am – 1.00pm and is fully remote.

We intentionally keep the numbers for this session low, so that everyone gets a chance to get involved. Most of our time will be spent on practising the communication techniques together to maximise your learning. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own specific issues ‒ so we can all learn together.

Cost

£360 (£300+VAT)

We have priced the workshop to be accessible for individuals and SME’s, but if it is still beyond your reach please get in touch and we’ll see how else we can help you.
