The Client
Planet 4 is Greenpeace’s internally built Content Management System built on the WordPress Block Editor Framework. It allows web admins, content editors and campaigners all over the world to update their Greenpeace website or campaign pages in the same consistent style so that no matter where a campaign in taking place, it has the same visual identity. At the time of writing, the Planet4 websites spanned 48 countries in 35 different languages.
Our Solution
After a quick introduction with their technical team, we toured the blocks and asked for the Greenpeace team’s requirements. We divided the work into a range of blocks:
- Counter / Statistics
- Gallery
- Media
- Timeline
- Submenu
- Take Action
Each of these needed to be created for their main campaign areas; Forests; Oceans; Arctic, Antarctic; Plastics; Oil.
We scoped what an initial MVP of each new block was for and how it applied to the majority of its use cases, before proceeding to design and in some cases, build them.
Our work offered more efficiency, consistency and accessibility across the many microsites and campaign sites that Greenpeace operate internationally.
Example page layouts using the new design system
As you can see, the designs that we delivered were beautiful and presented in a way that showed how they’d look on a webpage. We also delivered a slide deck for each campaign area with a list and visual examples of how they could be used.
