A practical workshop – delivered remotely – giving you an introduction to consent-based decision-making and a chance to try it out for yourself

Next workshop:

  • We have no upcoming public workshops planned right now, get in touch if you’re interested in some team support.

Overview

Consent-based decision-making is one of the core principles of Sociocracy

Using consent to make decisions helps any kind of organisation achieve buy-in from team members at every level, so people really understand why they are working towards a goal.

Some of the main benefits of consent include:

This workshop is based on your facilitators’ real-life experience of implementing the approach over many years in a business setting. The session will give you a practical, hands-on taster, and enough knowledge to start exploring using consent-based decision-making in your own organisation.

At Outlandish, we have used consent as part of our organisational DNA for more than six years. For us, this approach to gaining buy-in has been invaluable to our success and we want to share our experience and knowledge with others.

Need more convincing? You can read about the benefits of consent and sociocracy for your organisation and how, when used effectively, it has the power to make radical change safely AND quickly.

Outcomes

In this workshop, you will

But don’t take our word for it, this is what one participant said:

“Thought-stimulating and uplifting on a personal, practical and strategic level. I’m looking forward to finding out more and implementing.”

Who this workshop is designed for

This workshop is aimed at people who are interested in more effective ways of organising and making decisions, and who want to experience the consent process for themselves.

You may be currently working in one of the following positions:

The workshop is also suitable for consultants who are helping others with organisational development, design, or cultural change, as well as anyone with an interest in Sociocracy.

The facilitators

Two of the Building OUT team: Kayleigh Walsh, Lucy King, Aaron Hirtenstein, Pete Burden or Abi Handley will be delivering this workshop, based on their real-life experience of using and implementing Sociocracy.

Pete is a team and leadership coach who works with purpose-oriented businesses and organisations. He introduced Sociocracy to Outlandish and has been pivotal in supporting the development of the co-operative.

Abi is a key organiser within Outlandish. She works across programme management, finances, communications and business development and focuses much of her time in developing communication skills across the Outlandish team.

Aaron was a founder member of Agile Collective (a fellow CoTech co-operative) for 10 years and led the adoption of sociocratic principles in the co-op. He is now a collaborator with Outlandish to develop our services and workshops in this area. Elsewhere he is a member of the Open Food Network UK, helping to develop its working practises based around sociocracy, and is a budding co-operative development advisor.

Kayleigh is also a key organiser in Outlandish – a wonderful communicator, passionate community developer and dynamic project manager. She’s also a great facilitator who brings a realness and honesty to our sessions.

Lucy is a cross co-op collaborator who is interested in how people come together to work on amazing ideas. She’s sad that the world doesn’t always prioritise being happy, fulfilled and yourself at work, and sees this as a major leverage point in terms of growth – both from a personal and a business perspective. Being part of the Building OUT team is super exciting, because it’s a tangible way towards a world where everyone is as happy in their job as she is.

This will be an informal lunch or evening session to meet face to face with the people you trained with online.

Cost

We have priced the workshop to be accessible for individuals and SME’s, but if it is still beyond your reach please get in touch and we’ll see how else we can help you.
